Arketekcher designed a new contemporary addition and deck for a family living blocks from Brooklyn’s Coney Island. We explored designs that would maximize the addition’s size under existing zoning code, and explored different uses.
The final design maximizes the construction budget by creating much needed space inside, while allowing for exterior space on the roof for a large deck. Rather than conforming to the home’s existing character, the addition will be clad in charred Shou Sugi Ban wood creating an attractive contrast between new and old.
